‘Home’ features fanciful oil landscape paintings of the rainforest and extensive gardens that I would play in as a child at my grandparents Guest House in the Bunya Mountains.
Australian artist Samantha Nolan paints, draws and embroiders artwork about her concept of 'home'. In oils she recreates bright detailed landscape paintings of childhood haunts at the Bunya Mountains and quick expressive studies of the plants and flowers that fill her garden. She creates large friendly charcoal portraits of the animals inhabiting her home and her grandparents farm. Small vignettes of family life are painstakingly captured in embroideries and hand coloured with gouache.
